Please consider donating now to help us expand our services to even more riders and participants in Santa Barbara County. Hearts is a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation that receives no state or federal funding. Our annual operating budget is $520,000 and less than one-quarter of our income comes from lesson fees; the remainder is raised through private donations, grants, and fundraising. More than one-third of the riders at Hearts receive a portion of scholarship assistance towards lesson fees. Donations are critical to ensuring that no one is turned away from our services due to a lack of means.

Here’s how you can make a difference:

$25 helps feed our horses.
$65 provides one therapeutic riding lesson.
$100 helps fund our scholarship program.
$750 provides one month of scholarships for seven riders.
$3,168 provides riding lessons for a student for one year.

Therapy Horse Sponsorship Program

Having happy and healthy horses is essential to providing safe and effective programs to over 30 participants each week. Not only does a sponsorship gift support an individual therapy horse, but it also enables our clients to benefit from our therapeutic services and to experience the joy of our Hearts community. Because donations cover the care of our horses, Hearts can keep costs low for participants. By sponsoring a therapy horse, you are allowing more participants to have access to the life-changing benefits of our programs. It’s truly a gift that everyone can benefit from!

Sponsor benefits include:

A 100% tax-deductible contribution (your gift is restricted to the care of our horses)
Your name(s) placed on the horse’s stall
Recognition at Hearts events and on our website
Visits to Hearts to see your sponsored therapy horse

The annual sponsorship amount is $7,000 which contributes to hay, supplements, medication, and veterinary costs for one horse.

There are two options for sponsorship:

$3,500 with the option of adding a co-sponsor OR
$7,000 as an only sponsor

*Sponsorship amounts can be paid once annually or in smaller monthly payments.

Shop in our Tack Shack

We have a tack store full of second-hand items at exceptionally low prices. We have a great selection of boots, saddles, bridles, blankets, brushes and more. All of our items for sale have been donated by local community members and 100% of the proceeds go back to the Hearts Therapeutic programs.

The Tack Shack is volunteer-run and open Saturday's from 9:00-12:00 year-round.

Horse Acquisition

It takes a very special horse to be a therapeutic riding horse, and Hearts is always on the lookout for new candidates for our program. Hearts’ therapeutic riding horses need to meet the criteria necessary for them to be safe and useful in our riding program and to ensure that they’ll be happy with their job.
